Dungeons and Dragons

Six kids, teleported to an unknown world full of monsters, magic and mystery. Given the powers of Ranger, Thief, Barbarian, Magician, Acrobat and Cavalier, guided only by a crossbreed of Yoda and Paul Daniels, known as Dungeon Master trying to find a way back home.

Dungeons and Dragons really needed no introduction, but I had to fill a little space before the video!

The series was never officially completed, and the final episode never got animated. However the script for the last episode 'Requiem' can be found here - http://www.dungeonsdragonscartoon.com/2009/08/requiem.html

Fun Tip - Keep your ears peeled and you will notice that the voice actor for Venger is Peter Cullen, the same person who voiced Optimus Prime in Transformers!

Also check out the end of the episode for a total bombshell!

The Legend of Prince Valiant

Morning folks!

Thought I'd do an early morning post seems it's Saturday, and Saturdays were made for cartoon watching!

This morning, we have a story of a young prince, exiled from his home after the kingdom his father owned was overthrown. Haunted by dreams of King Arthur, he decides to set off in search of Camelot and the Knights of the Round Table.

This is The Legend of Prince Valiant!

Defenders of the Earth

Flash Gordon, The Phantom, Mandrake, Lothar... and their kids.

That's right folks! It's the Defenders of the Earth!

Fighting against Ming the Merciless and his minions, because Flash Gordon obviously wasn't good enough to defeat him alone!

(For a bit of fun - When The Phantom calls upon the power of ten tigers, just count and see if he ever gets that power. As a kid I only ever remember him getting seven or eight each time. Maybe Tony the Tiger and Shere Khan were busy with other contracts?)

Dogtanian and the Three Muskehounds

There's nothing better than a good sing-a-long theme tune is there? Here is one of the greatest kids tunes to sing along to, and I pretty much guarantee that once this is back in your heads, you'll be humming it all day tomorrow!

Also, this was probably one of the greatest serialised cartoons of the 80's!

All together now...

'One for all and all for one, Muskehounds are always ready, one for all and all for one, helping everybody...'

Pigeon Street

This is a special request post from a good friend who has been asking me for this show all week!

Apparently there were only 13 episodes of this show made, yet when I think back to watching it as a young'un, there seemed to be loads of them!!

M.A.S.K.

Hey everyone!

Presenting to you the Mobile Armored Strike Kommand, or more commonly known as M.A.S.K.

M.A.S.K. (an acronym for Mobile Armored Strike Kommand) is a special task force featuring an array of characters, led by Matt Trakker, with transforming vehicles engaged in an ongoing battle against the criminal organization V.E.N.O.M. (an acronym for Vicious Evil Network of Mayhem), with an emphasis on super-powered masks worn by the characters on the show. It is never made clear what sort of criminal organization V.E.N.O.M. is, exactly. They were not the typical world-conquering villains and their schemes mostly revolve around profiting from illegal activities and doing mercenary services.

Enjoy!

Henry's Cat

Henry's, Henry's, you must know Henry's Cat!
You must have seen the movie,
You must have read the book,
He's a mellow yellow feline,
so take another look.
He knows everything about nothing
and not too much about that!
So if you know someone who knows what he knows,
Then you must know Henry's Cat!!

We have a facebook page!!!

Centurions

Two words that made me very excited as a child were Power Extreme! Who else wished they could have missiles and weapons beamed down from a satellite, run by a hot red headed woman?

Even though I was too young to really appreciate what a beautiful woman looked like, I knew I liked something about Crystal, the hottie in space!

Lasers, teleporting weapons, and general bad assery. What more could a young kid want from a cartoon??

Denver the Last Dinosaur

What would you do if you do found a giant dinosaur while you were hanging with your friends?
Hatch it and teach it play guitar of course!

Presenting everyone's favorite extinct lizard, Denver the Last Dinosaur!!

Bananaman

Thought I'd just have time for a quick bonus post!

Thought I would throw this classic gem from the early 80's into the mix today as I have had the theme tune stuck in my head all day long!

Bananaman!

Fun Fact - The voice cast of Bananaman was comprised of the actors from the 70's sitcom The Goodies!

Galaxy High

Today's second video is a special request from one of my closest friends. This cartoon was exactly how I envisioned moving into Secondary school when I was young. Full of strange teachers, weird creatures in other classes, even my new friends would probably be aliens!

Thankfully, it wasn't half as bad as I was expecting.

At least it wasn't Galaxy High!!!

See you tomorrow for more nostalgia!

Gummi Bears

Hey there everyone!

Today's first video was inspired by watching children who have been fed too many sugary foods with far too many additives in them, causing them to become hyperactive and start bouncing off the walls.

I am talking of course about the Gummi Bears!!!

Give them some Gummiberry Juice and watch them go!!

The Raccoons

A little later than originally planned, here we have a staple part of Saturday morning viewing for any kid growing up in the 80's.

The Raccoons!

Watching Bert Raccoon smash stuff up while Cyril Sneer failed miserably at being a money grabbing old codger always brought a smile to my face. I don't think they could make a cartoon with as much charm and heartwarming tales of friendship these days.

This is the Evergreen Forest. Quiet, peaceful, serene. That is, until Bert Raccoon wakes up!

More to come tomorrow!

Bravestarr

Howdy pardners!

Today's trip down memory lane stays with yesterday's theme of space cowboys, but instead of a team of law keepers, we have the upstanding figure of Marshall Bravestarr!

Accompanied by his trusty horse Thirty-thirty and using his shamanistic powers of the hawk, wolf, puma and bear, this native American lawman is a force to be reckoned with!

Enjoy and I'll post another classic later on today!

Galaxy Rangers

Yep. I'm far too excited about this site.

As it's day one and I'm loving this whole experience, I've decided to post this little corker for you to enjoy.

The Adventures of the Galaxy Rangers!

This has one of my favourite theme tunes of all the 80's cartoons (apart from Star Fleet, but we'll get to that on another post!)

I had a toy of the bird faced guy when I was a kid. He used to have a piece of furry fabric that used to clip to his shoulder, and I can remember my brother winding up the family dog by resting it on top of the front room door and making the dog bark because it couldn't reach it.

Good times!

Ulysses 31

Right guys!

I guess there is no time like the present to get started is there?

After some serious thought, I have decided to kick off proceedings with one of my all time favourite shows; Ulysses 31! A retelling of Greek mythology, set in the 31st century, Where Ulysses, his son, their alien friend and a little robot called Nono must travel to Hades to break a curse placed upon them by the Gods of Olympus.

MORTALS! YOU DEFY THE GODS? I SENTENCE YOU TO TRAVEL AMONG UNKNOWN STARS. UNTIL YOU FIND THE KINGDOM OF HADES, YOUR BODIES WILL STAY AS LIFELESS AS STONE...

Enjoy!

Welcome!!

Greeting everyone!

Welcome to The Broom Cupboard Club!

A blogsite dedicated to bringing you as many cartoons from the 80's and early 90's as possible!

For those of you old enough to remember, the cartoons from that era contained some of the most memorable characters that TV had to offer and many of those characters have stayed with us into adulthood.

Who doesn't think back fondly to the adventures of Dogtanian, or break into a smile at the image of Bert Raccoon? Who wanted to fight the Monster Minds alongside Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors or shout 'Power Extreme!' and have weapons beamed onto them from a satellite in space??

If the answer is 'Yes!' to any of these questions, stick around and in the coming days and weeks, I'll try to help you relive those memories!

If you have any memories to share, please don't hesitate to leave a comment or two and join in to make this the best trip down memory lane ever!!
